Description:

The Regional Flood line represents the worst case flood plain scenario, in TRCA's case, this is the Hurricane Hazel storm event of 1954. This line is used for regulatory purposes and is sometimes referred to as the Regulatory Flood Line or Engineered Flood Line.

The segments of this feature fall under catagories as defined under the 'Layer' field of the feature's attribute table and are as follows:

Floodline-Engineered - the actual line from the finalized flood plain map.

Floodline-Draft - the actual line from the draft flood plain map.

Floodline-Spill - an area where a spill occurs. A spill is a segment of flood plain where the boundary can not be defined using the standard hydraulic analysis. This segment does not represent the floodplain and is used only to indicate where the spill occurs.

Floodline-Estimated Closure - this segement was created where the flood plain extends beyond the base mapping used for the analysis. In these cases the 2002 DEM was used to generate contours and the flood line was drawn using the most upstream cross-section's water surface elevation. This line was created to close the flood plain for use in the Generic Regulation criteria layer and should not be used externally.

Floodline-Engineered Flood Study- flood line acquired from a study not completed by the TRCA. These lines were specifically used with direction from the Planning and Development division for use in the Generic Regulation criteria layer and should not be used externally.

Floodline-Update Pending- areas where there are gaps in the flood plain that will be closed when updated mapping is provided.

Floodline-Closed at Map Limit- this segment was created where the flood plain extends beyond the base mapping used for the analysis. Unlike the 'Floodline-Estimated Closure' the flood line can not be connected when using the 2002 DEM. This segment does not represent the flood plain and further analysis is required to close the flood plain at these locations.
