Description:

Hazards + Allowances = The Approximate Regulation Limit

From a mapping and data perspective, individual data layers are used to represent each hazard and each allowance on the GIS map. This can result in more than one hazard and/or allowance layer being provided for a single property. By combining these various data layers; the Approximate Regulation Limit is generated..

The ARL differs from the Regulation Limit. It is a visual representation (mapping) of the Regulation Limit and should be used as a screening tool to identify hazard vulnerable areas. The Approximate Regulation Limit (ARL) represents a snapshot in time of hazard conditions, based on best available information and may not contain features mapped or modelled after the ARL mapping was produced.

The ARL is approximate only. It does not depict all areas described by the Regulation. Refinements or additions to the mapping may be required through site-specific studies done to the satisfaction of Conservation Halton. These studies may include topographic surveys, field investigations, and staking of natural features such as wetlands and the physical top-of-bank and/or technical studies undertaken by qualified professionals.
